A Simple Green Smoothie Recipe For Beginners
Green smoothies are IN and if you looking for a simple beginner’s recipe, this might be perfect for you!
Whether you are up for trying a detox, or just want to include green smoothies into your daily routine, I encourage you to try this simple Apple & Cinnamon Green Delight.
Apples are available pretty much all year round, and they are an excellent prebiotic.
You can go for greens of your choice, like spinach or kale (please, buy organic whenever you can), lettuce, chard…
NOTE: If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), you want to avoid raw spinach and raw kale. You could steam them (or cover them with boiling water for about 5 minutes, then rinse in cold water, and you are good to go.)
Simple Green Smoothie Recipe For Beginners
let’s call it
Apple & Cinnamon Green Delight
Serves 1
Ingredients:
1 apple
1/2 celery stick (optional, but soooo good for you, and I promise, you won’t even taste it)
1/3 large cucumber
1 banana or 1/4 avocado (I prefer avocado, as it is a good source of healthy fat)
1 cup of spinach (OR greens of your choice)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3-4 drops of stevia (OR 1-2 pitted dates)
small handful rocket (optional)
1 Tbsp pea protein powder (optional)
+ 1 cup filtered water, or herbal tea, or plant milk of your choice, or you can simply use a handful of ice cubes

Instructions:
Chop the fruits and veggies up (how big pieces depends on what blender do you use).
If you use a standard blender, you want to chop into smaller bites (to help your blender a bit).
If you have a more powerful blender or Vitamix, the chunks can be bigger.

Add the liquid and blend until smooth, pour into the jar and enjoy.
If you like to make it a ‘smoothie bowl’, then pour the smoothie into a bowl and top up with additional chopped apple, a few raisins, hemp seeds and cinnamon.
Delight!

For the best results, if you are a complete beginner, start with 80% fruit and 20% greens and vegetables. With the time (when your taste buds adapt) you want to aim for 50/50 ratio.
You can also replace banana with steamed and cooled cauliflower (less sugar content).
The best thing on making smoothies is that you rarely get it wrong! If you are scared of greens, let me tell you, that raw spinach doesn’t actually have any taste! That’s why it is a great option to add it into kids smoothies and they won’t even know! Greens are in and they won’t even realize! Win-win!
Leafy Green Vegetable replacements
If you don’t have access to green leafy vegetables, you can use the Organic Green Powders instead.
There are many good brands out there.
Use a wide variety = rainbow of fruits. Be creative and play around with different colours. As we know, each colour offers a different spectrum of minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients.
