GUILT-FREE BLISS BALLS for any occasion
Today I want to share with you easy and healthy treats you can put together in no time! The so-called protein or bliss balls are ridiculously easy to make at home, they are gluten-free, dairy-free, and you can choose to make them even nut-free! Using only a few ingredients, you can make a bunch of them ahead of the time, and they can be stored for several weeks! Full of healthy nutrients, they are a true no-brainer.
The bliss balls are also very versatile, you can mix and match nuts and seeds, dry fruits and your choice of superfoods and protein powders.
There are plenty of various recipes you can find online, my favourite go-to platform to get inspiration is Pinterest.
Basic directions on how to make bliss balls:
1.Place nuts into the food processor or blender. Pulse several times to start breaking the nuts into smaller pieces. Add the rest of the dry ingredients and pulse again.
2. Now add the wet ingredients. Dates (pitted), raisins, or any dried fruit or sweetener (maple syrup or honey – avoid using agave, as it’s often highly processed), some recipes also call for nut butter or coconut oil. Process the mixture until everything is broken down and stick together reassembling sticky dough.
3. Remove the dough and place into a bowl. Form into small balls.
4. Roll into the topping of your choice, like seeds, cacao nibs, coconut, matcha, cacao powder…
5. Store in mason jars, or any air-tight glass jar (container) in the refrigerator or in the freezer if you are making a large amount for months ahead.
Happy munching!

CHOCO – COCO – MACA – ROONS
I always make a large batch of these, as they are truly amazing, and I often get to take them with me when visiting friends! In fact, I used to sell them when I worked at the local juicery, and they were everyone’s favourite!
- 3.5 cups of coconut
- 1 cup cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon maca (optional)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (or vanilla powder)
- 1/2 – 3/4 cup maple syrup (you can replace the maple syrup with dates, but they are way much better with maple syrup)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
Pulse together coconut, cacao powder and salt, then add the maple syrup and coconut oil. The dough will be very sticky (it will seem that the ball won’t stick together, but I promise you it will), and you have to put an effort to make the balls. Once you make the balls, coat them in coconut or coconut sugar, and place them into the fridge for 15 minutes to allow the coconut oil to harden. Store in a glass jar and you are welcome!
Everyone remembers the food they eat during holidays – let’s make it count!
